Artist Resume

My inspiration comes from the beauty in nature. Many of my pieces are inspired from my garden, travels to Hawaii and Mexico, and living near the beautiful Rocky Mountains. My granddaughter is also a great inspiration. The way children view all the "tiny" things around them amazes me. My mosaics are all about color and texture. I believe adding color to one's life adds energy and excitement. Just working with all the different materials and the placement of the materials together to create a unique effect is a very intriguing process. I mainly use glass in my work and add other materials such as Italian smalti, marble, ceramic, fossils, millefiori, copper, and beads. My latest projects add mosaics to pottery designed and hand crafted by my daughter, Lisa. It is wonderful working together and combining our art.

II enjoy sharing my experiences with others while attending classes or teaching classes. There is nothing like sharing a day or a weekend with like minded folks in the pursuit of art! I think of life as a mosaic. All the "pieces" are important. When you put them all together, you create a beautiful work of art.

I have attended classes at the Institute of Mosaic Art in Oakland, California. IMA opened in 2005. The founder and executive director, Laurel True, and all of the instructors have been absolutely fabulous! From my very first visit, I have found IMA to be a home away from home. I also have been very fortunate to have taken courses from visiting artists such as Lillian Sizemore, Laurel Skye, Tammy Lee, and Sonia King. Lillian has provided more support and guidance than I could have imagined. I am also a member of the the Society of American Mosaic Artists (SAMA). For more of my mosaic journey as a student at the Institute of Mosaic Art, please visit this website: http://www.instituteofmosaicart.com/fsa_03_08.html

Most importantly, I owe a great deal to my very special friends and family and who have supported and guided me, to those who have given me that gentle push, and to new friends that have opened doors for me in ways I never thought possible. And most importantly, a special thanks to my husband, John.

I hope you enjoy my website and thank you for visiting.
